As GUEST ARTIST with THE CINCINNATI POPS

Friday’s concert was billed as ‘Boheme to Phantom: The Music of Puccini and Andrew Lloyd Weber.’  And it was with a pair of fine young guest artists to do the vocal honors, soprano Laura Pedersen and tenor Jon Christos, both making their Pops debut.  Both singers entertained beautifully… Pedersen showed herself quite the ingenue in ‘Mi ciamano Mimi’ from Puccini’s ‘La Boheme,’ which she filled with considerable expression and sweetness of tone. Her ‘Un bel di’ from ‘Madame Butterfly’ connected similarly, as did ‘Think of Me’ from Lloyd Weber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’.

…soprano Laura Pedersen, has the sure stage presence and interpretive skills of a seasoned operatic performer.  She sang a touching ‘Un bel di’ from Puccini’s ‘Madame Butterfly,’ … and won listeners over with the purity and grace of her ‘Think of me’ from ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
